INTERVIEW: Corporate Australia idle on modern slavery

A new report on modern slavery shows some Australian firms are making promises to ensure their suppliers aren't using forced labour but are taking no real action to make sure that's the case. The report also identifies shortcomings in Australia's modern slavery laws, which have no penalties for companies that break the law.

Human rights organisations are calling for an urgent overhaul of the legislation.

Director of the Australian Human Rights Institute, Professor Justine Nolan, joined the ABC's PM program to discuss the report.
