Directors and shareholders get a warning on modern slavery

A decade after UN guidelines on human rights in business were sponsored by the federal government, a new report from the Australian Human Rights Institute and the Australian Human Rights Commission has found more progress can be achieved through leveraging the role of investors, including asset owners and managers.

Co-author of the report and director of the Australian Human Rights Institute, Professor Justine Nolan, spoke with The Australian Financial Review's Political Reporter Tom McIlroy about the report's calls for renewed due diligence by Australian businesses and institutional investors to address exploitation.
