United Nations Business and Human Rights Regional Forum

The inaugural UN Business and Human Rights Regional Forum: Australia and New Zealand will be held in Melbourne on 26 and 27 August 2025. 

The regional forum will bring together representatives from government, business, the investment community, academia, civil society, trade unions, Indigenous Peoples and other affected groups to discuss and help shape the future of business and human rights in Australia, New Zealand and beyond. 

Brought to you by the United Nations Working Group on Business and Human Rights in collaboration with local organisations, including the Australian Human Rights Institute, this flagship event will focus on strengthening business practices in turbulent times.

Topics include: 

  • The future of modern slavery reporting requirements and mandatory human rights due diligence
  • Advancing respect for Indigenous Peoples’ rights and cultural heritage
  • Overcoming obstacles to achieving a just transition in response to the climate and nature crises
